The research project BV-3D-Endo aims at image processing and 3D navigation in medical endoscopy
- Focus 3D navigation: The 3D position of the endoscopic instrument is continuously tracked during the surgery. With a high-precision calibration it is then possible to measure certain 3D structures in the live endoscope image or to set and navigate to 3D landmarks.
- Focus Image Mosaicing: A known problem during endoscopic surgery is the limited field of view of the endoscope which makes navigation often difficult. Our goal here is to support the surgeon in the operating theatre with an image mosaic, automatically generated from the live video stream.
