This is a branch of <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>artificial intelligence (AI)<\/strong><\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px\">In January'2018 we released <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"> <a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.gm.fh-koeln.de\/konen\/files\/2018\/01\/HexGameboard01_w.png\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1913 alignright\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.gm.fh-koeln.de\/konen\/files\/2018\/01\/HexGameboard01_w-300x244.png\" alt=\"Gameboard Hex in GBG\" width=\"300\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a><strong>GBG<\/strong><\/span>, the <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>G<\/strong><\/span><strong>eneral<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>B<\/strong><\/span><strong>oard<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>G<\/strong><\/span><strong>ame<\/strong> <strong>playing and learning framework<\/strong> to the research community as another <span style=\"font-size: 14px\"><em>open-source<\/em> project.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/WolfgangKonen\/GBG\">https:\/\/github.com\/WolfgangKonen\/GBG<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px\">GBG takes the abstraction one level higher (than in the previous <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.gm.fh-koeln.de\/ciop\/research\/gbg-games-learning\/\">Connect-4 project<\/a>) in that it provides a software framework with standardized interfaces for <em>arbitrary<\/em> games and <em>arbitrary <\/em>AI agents. GBG helps students and researchers to take a quicker start-off into the area of game learning. Read more about GBG in the <a href=\"#PublicationsGBG\">publications below<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Currently, the games implemented in GBG include 2048, Hex, Othello, Sim, Nim, Tic-Tac-Toe; more games are planned for the future. Current agents in GBG include MCTS, Max-N, Expectimax-N, TD-n-tuple and others.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px\">The long-term goal of our research group is it to transfer these learning strategies to many other games (dots-and-boxes, go, Poker, checkers, Abalone, ...). The project is related to the research field known as <span style=\"color: #00f\"><strong>General Game Playing (GGP)<\/strong><\/span>.
